The Perfect Cover

My love for the underwater world began as a little girl going fishing with my grandfather. While he did most of the fishing, I would watch the Bass swimming beneath the lilypads and fallen logs, watching the light stream through the water, and imagining what it must be like to see the world from an underwater perspective. This painting is a return to my first inspiration for wanting to scuba dive and paint underwater scenes. This piece balances the use of palette knife and brush work, as well as sensitivity to the authenticity of the underwater environment and artistic expression.
