Friendship Colors

I've had the pleasure to stay in Friendship, Maine several times to paint plein air and take photos. I love the colors of the waterfront, in particular the buoys, traps and ropes that line the docks and wharves, and that go out on the lobster boats. This painting is from a pile of ropes and buoys I found. The yellow and white buoy belongs to the lobsterman, Arnold, who was so welcoming to me. This is a studio painting done from one of my photos. I was in Maine for a week of painting and taking photos when I took it.
