Mingo Falls was quite a hike up the mountain but worth it. There was a foot bridge I could stand on with the perfect view of this 120 foot tall falls. It was complex to get the whole falls onto my little 14" canvas but I managed. I started with a gamsol and a little ultramarine and alizarin to sketch in the structure of the falls and the log jam at the bottom. I took time carefully work the water falling over the stone face and rocks. It was invigorating and fun. The colors were beautiful and much of the falls were in filtered light. This was one of my favorite plein air excursions!
