Port Clyde Refuel

Port Clyde Refuel, Artist Over 65
Port Clyde Refuel
This is an oil on canvas studio painting, done from a photo I took in Port Clyde when I was on a personal painting trip to Maine. Mysteries - I love them! The mystery here is just what are all these things and where am I? I painted this scene under the dock that I loved because of the light and the way it was highlighted on the little shed that protected the gas pump handle. But what was the blue and red gizmo? I didn't know and asked about 10 boaters and everyone had a different answer. Finally I went back to Port Clyde, where the ferry to Monhegan Island in Maine takes off, and asked a local fisherman. That's a blue drinking water hose, and the red gadget keeps it from being tangled up during low tide.
