Oil on Prepared Panel. I had the opportunity to paint with the GRPAP (Genessee Valley Plein Air Painters) group along the Erie Canal when I first arrived after moving to this area in the summer of 2020. This piece was done in the Pal-Mac Aqueduct park near historic remains of the old canal. The water from the canal was just bursting through into a side waterway after being confined for a while. I just loved the feeling of wow! I'm free! This piece received a rave review from Charlie Hunter in a national virtual plein air conference where it was one of 10 chosen from those submitted by over a thousand participants for a critique.
