Peering Into Teahouse Garden

Captivated by this double trellis image I wanted to test my ability to convey the perspective of the garden scene and get the smaller trellis to “fall back”, to be there and yet not take on too much attention. I also wanted the tree in front of the focal point to be just that, appear in front yet not take on too much attention. Additionally to that I wanted to play with translucent paint over opaque in the shadow under the focal point, the first trellis. Oil on linen panel.
