On a trip to the Dordogne region of France we watched a wonderful small town festival that included traditionally costumed dancers. The musicians were playing instruments of the era depicted - an Accordion and a Hurdy-Gurdy. It had been years since I saw a hurdy gurdy played and it was such a delight to see the musicians at work, watching each other as they played this early French music. I took my sketches and photos back home and painted the scene, moving he figures closer together in my painting to express their camaraderie.
