Inspired by the pattern of the Aspen trees with the early morning sun glare through the forest struck me as visual poetry. The Rhythmic pattern of the trees reminded me of music. I painted this on the spot on a cold morning in Grandby Colorado. There I capture the color notes just as I saw them. I then sourced that study into this studio painting. I worked out a limited palette of just 5 colors, working with a triad of secondary colors. I on purpose choose not to use any blue to stray from making the snow in the shadows to pure of a blue and to experiment with doing something a bit different with the color harmony.
