Windswept Winterscape

The view shown in this painting is of a Minnesota spot I snapped in a reference photo several years ago. I had the image set aside but haven't tackled until recently. I first painted a couple of smaller studies, and then took my time taking the idea a bit larger in this version. I don't usually paint spots I haven't visited in a while, but I've painted this landscape quite a bit and loved the challenge it presented with edges and abstract shapes. Although I don't have the opportunity to visit Minnesota as much these days, I still enjoy painting the landscape imagery occasionally.
